The Greek Bioeconomy Council (GBC) proudly contributes to the European consultation on the Circular Economy Act, bringing forward the voice of Greece’s 𝗯𝗶𝗼-𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀, 𝗳𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀.

Through the GBC, Greece stands for a fair, science-based and forward-looking circular economy, where innovation is not delayed by outdated regulation.

⚖️ 𝗪𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿:
• 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿, 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱 𝗘𝗻𝗱-𝗼𝗳-𝗪𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲 𝗿𝘂𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁-𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 across Member States – so that 𝗰𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗳𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘀 are assessed by their safety and agronomic value, not by the origin of their materials.
• 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗯𝗶𝗼-𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱, 𝗰𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘀 as key enablers of nutrient recovery and soil health – removing the grey zones that still block innovation.
• 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗹𝗴𝗮𝗲 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗮𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 in the bioeconomy framework – with 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁-𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝗻𝗱-𝗼𝗳-𝗪𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲 𝗿𝘂𝗹𝗲𝘀 ensuring fair competition and integration of marine bioresources into the EU circular economy.
• 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 through CAP eco-schemes, tax benefits and green public procurement – creating real market demand for circular fertilising products.
• 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗙𝗔𝗦 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 to secure clean input streams and safe recycling.
• 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗴𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝗘𝗨 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹, with evaluation committees and advisory bodies which will include experts from circular bioeconomy and sustainable agriculture – not outdated committees dominated by experts from the conventional chemical sector.
• 𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿-𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝘆 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗶-𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝗶𝗼-𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗻 – supporting industrial symbiosis and bio-innovation.
